2007.08.30 - Trophee d´Or

I´m sorry about my lack of reporting these last days.
It seems like the days are passing by to fast for me and I go from one thing to another, without time to catch my breath!
Last week my best friend Jenny was here in Belgium to visit me and Martin, we got four great days with a raceday in Zottegem (watched Martin race), a raceday in Adinkerke where she coached me to a victory ;) and a shoppingday in Brugge…
But before I even got used to have her around she had to go back home and I was ready for a week racing in France.
We did Trophee d´Or as a mixed team with Bizkaia (my team from last year). I came to France with a goal to be top three in the general classification (GC). And to go back home with a 4th place in the GC on the same time as Bronzini who finished 3rd was just as reaching my goal.
I´m happy with my form and to feel in control of the situation, to master the bunchsprints and also be abel to go in the breaks have proven that I stepped up another level.

2007.08.17 - How a victory makes the day perfect… or at least better!

Yesterday morning when the alarm sat off I didn´t want to leave my bed. Ouside I could hear the wind howling in the trees and I knew that I had a long day ahead of me. There are days like that when it´s so nice to have someone who takes care of you and helps you get through the day. Someone who makes breakfast for you, cleans your bike, drive the car to the race so that you can sleep the entire way… Yes, I know I´m spoilt ;) Thank you for that Martin! I promisse to pay you back…
The start was 18.00 and we had 96km to do. Halfway I attacked and got one rider with me, Tanja Hennes from German. We worked well together and the bunch never cought us back. I won the sprint and a 4th victory this year is now added on my list.
After the race me and Martin were invited to dinner at Michelle and Bettys place (a couple that Martin knows). A bottle of champagne to celebrate the victory, and then a great pasta carbonara with a strong coffee and cake for dessert before we went back to Zingem made the day complete. I´m pretty sure that this will be a day to always remember :)

2007.08.14 - Results Holland Hills Classic

After Sweden I have had an easy week to recover and hopefull get a surplus of power after my hard trainingperiod in July. Came to Gulpen and Holland Hills Classic with no expectations about the race… I had no problems to follow the best riders until the last hill (4km before the finish), a group of six riders got away on the top of the steep hill and I was in a group just behinde them. Finsihed 12th, with a good feeling and a charged battery for the rest of the seasone.
