… on timetrail! Yesterday was an OK day in Stuttgart. I had hoped to be top 20 and so I was halfway in the race but on the seconde half I lost some time against the others and finished 26th. A good training before the “real” race on Saturday.
We start at 09.00 so get up early, place yourself in the sofa with a blanket and have a nice breakfast infront of the TV while we´re suffering in Stuttgarts cold morningbreeze…

Today I´m leaving to Stuttgart, Germany for the World Championships. I´m going to race the timetrail on Wednesday the 26th and then the roadrace on Saturday the 29th.
So if you´re not there to cheer for me, cross your fingers in front of the TV!

… and I started to celebrate it yesterday with a victory in Kieldrecht! I was away with a group of six riders almost the whole race. Marianne Vos was also there and with two laps to go she tried to chase us down but alone it was to difficult for her. I attacked with 1 km to go and I could cross the finishline ahead of the others :-)
Today is my birthday, my first one in Belgium… Martin left early for his first cyclocross race ever and he promissed me that we will celebrate later! Luckily my lovely Emma (my teammate) and her family have made my birthday so far. Flowers, a present and chocolate cake (which was SO worth all the calories). Thank you very much for that!

These last days have been all about taking it easy and to recover from last week in Holland. I have had some nice days with Martin, he´s been racing and I have been coaching (drinking coffee on a café) from the side. On my bike I have had some easy rides and yesterday it said hard training/race on my schedule. Since my “favourite” race in Handzame (won there last year) was on the racingprogram I choose to go there. The race turned out just as I wanted, on the 2nd of 16 laps I went in a breakaway with a group of six riders. On the last lap I attacked and went solo to the finish. Good legs and a good head. Great to know that I am where I want to be and that my form is still hanging in there!
Tomorrow we´re leaving for the last World Cup in Nürnberger and then it´s time for the Worlds where I´m doing both the timetrail and the roadrace.
See you,
Emma
